At AQ Surgery, we believe that a patient's understanding of their disease or illness is highly important in helping them make informed decisions about treatment and navigate recovery.
Personalized Care and Timely Treatment with Dr. Quimby
Our team will work diligently to secure you an appointment with Dr. Quimby so that she may assess your condition in a timely manner, provide a definitive diagnosis, and begin setting your treatment plan in motion. Adequate patient education and a collaborative relationship with your provider have been shown to improve the management of even chronic diseases.
Our goal is to ensure that you are prepared for both the pre-operative and post-operative processes through a transparent and personalized approach. This ensures that we provide you with not only the important information you need, but also address the key concerns of you and your loved ones.
What To Expect
Appointment Setting
You can schedule your initial consultation at AQ Surgery by calling us directly or by sending us a message through this site. Upon contact, our Patient Coordinator will ask questions about the reason for your visit, your referring doctor, if you had any tests or procedures completed thus far, information about you and your insurance. This will give us a clear understanding of what you would like to discuss with Dr. Quimby and if your visit will be covered by your Insurnace. Please be sure to choose a day and time that will work for you. We ask that you show up at least 20 minutes early to your first appointment, so you are able to complete any additional paperwork that may be necessary.
Before the Visit
Once you become a patient at AQ Surgery you will receive a link to your patient portal that will allow you to fill out required patient questionnaires prior to your first appointment.
Our Patient Coordinator will work to ensure that we have all medical records from previous doctors sent over before your visit. This may require you to complete a Medical Request Form to help speed up this process.
We strongly encourage you to obtain a physical copy on a disk of any images (CT, MRI, PET scan) you might have had completed and accompanying report ahead of time to bring with you to your consultation.
We also suggest that you prepare a list of questions that you would like to discuss with Dr. Quimby. Please also bring an up-to-date list of any medications with dosages, including over-the-counter medications and drug allergies.
Day of Your Visit
On the day of your visit, please:
- Bring your ID and insurance card.
- Arrive at least 20 minutes early to finish completing any additional forms.
- Call ahead if you are running late. We allow a 15-minute grace period. If you arrive late, we will do all we can to accommodate your appointment and minimize the need to reschedule.
- If you need to cancel or reschedule, we do ask that you give a 24-hour notice so we are able to offer the appointment time to another patient.
During the initial consultation, you will meet one-on-one with Dr. Quimby and undergo a thorough history and discussion of your current concerns. Dr. Quimby may order additional test and imaging studies as well as recommend a biopsy prior to making any treatment recommendations. After reviewing your history, lab tests, and imaging studies, Dr. Quimby will discuss your treatment options with you. This first visit usually lasts about 30-45 minutes.
Next Steps
If further tests are required, our staff will help you to arrange them. If treatment is indicated after any additional testing is complete, your procedure will be scheduled for a convenient date in the near future.
